Revanth Reddy Appeals to RTC Staff: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) workers recently announced a strike. They have expressed their dissatisfaction and said they are not going to step back from their decision. In response, Chief Minister (CM) Revanth Reddy made some strong and surprising comments.
On May 5, 2025, during the Zee Awards function in Hyderabad, CM Revanth Reddy questioned the strike decision. He asked the workers if their protest was really in the interest of the people of Telangana and reminded them that under his government, salaries are being paid on the first day of every month, which never happened before. Also added that the government spends Rs. 7,000 crore every month on salaries for RTC employees.
CM Revanth also mentioned that the previous government left unpaid retirement benefits worth Rs. 8,500 crore. He said political parties are wrongly blaming his government for the financial issues that were caused by past leaders. He emphasized that his government has already transferred Rs. 30,000 crore to farmers’ bank accounts in just 16 months.
Revanth Reddy also criticized the previous government’s handling of electricity dues. He said they promised free electricity but left unpaid bills. They even owed money to Singareni coal company. Contractors who worked on development projects were also left unpaid, he added. He accused the earlier administration of borrowing money at 11% interest, calling it mismanagement.
The CM appealed to union leaders to act with responsibility, especially during a time of financial crisis. He asked them not to create trouble for common people and to think twice before taking extreme steps like strikes. Also said the government is open to discussions and urged workers to talk instead of protest.
warned that acting without responsibility could hurt Telangana society. He reminded them that the government is not made of just politicians, but of all citizens working together. He clearly stated that the aim should be public service, not personal or political gain.
The CM also spoke about public safety and praised the Telangana police for maintaining law and order. Also said that police officers are working like soldiers at the borders, protecting people day and night. Revanth Reddy announced support for families of police officers who die in the line of duty, including financial aid and a special police school for their children.
Lastly, he stressed the need for controlling crimes, especially cybercrimes and drugs. The government has strengthened departments to tackle modern criminal activities.
CM Revanth Reddy has asked RTC workers to reconsider their strike and join hands with the government to move Telangana forward. He believes that dialogue and understanding are better than protests and strikes during hard times.
