What Happened?
A major accident occurred in the SLBC tunnel at 8.30 am on February 22. The Srisailam left bank canal tunnel suddenly collapsed. Around eight workers got trapped inside the tunnel, and after the incident, water and mud entered the tunnel. This severely hampered rescue operations.
NDRF, SDRF, Army, Navy, Singareni, and Rat Hole Miners Rescue Teams were engaged in rescue operations. From the first day, water was pumped out of the tunnel through pipes, and mud was pumped out through cans. Following that, the crew went inside the tunnel, but it became difficult to find its whereabouts.

But Rescue efforts are still ongoing to locate the eight people who have been missing since then. However, the remains of the bodies were found at the accident site on Friday evening. Staff say that at this point, they are likely to be pulled out on Sunday.
