Chief Justice AK Singh: The Supreme Court Collegium has decided to appoint Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh (AK Singh) as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court . Justice AK Singh is currently the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court. In this regard, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended to the Central Government that he be transferred to the Telangana High Court. Justice Alok Aradhe served as the Chief Justice of the High Court until January this year.
However, he was transferred to the Bombay High Court in January. The Collegium has now proposed AK Singh’s name in his place. The Collegium, headed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the country, Justice BR Gavai, held a meeting three days ago, i.e. on May 26. In this, a decision was taken on 34 judges. As part of this, it was decided to appoint Justice AK Singh as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
Justice Singh was born on July 7, 1965, to Dr. Ramgopal Singh and Dr. Shraddha Singh. He comes from a distinguished legal family, with several members having served at the highest levels of the judiciary. His maternal great-grandfather, Justice B. Sinha, was the sixth Chief Justice of India. His grandfather, Shambhuprasad Singh, served as the acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. Additionally, his maternal uncles, Justices Bishweshwar Prasad Singh and Shivakirti Singh, have both served as judges of the Supreme Court.
