The Telangana budget has been making headlines for the new financial year. The allotment of finances this year is made with extreme care and thought, focusing on the development of the state. With new schemes introduced every now and then, there is a need to closely monitor and analyze the financial resources for optimal use for needed aspects. The latest news about the Telangana transport budget is the topic of the town.
Telangana Transport department has been making headlines for quite some time due to the schemes. In the financial year of 2024-2025, a huge amount of Rs 4,206 crores has been allotted to the transport department. Now, coming to this financial year, 2025-2026, an additional amount of Rs. 279 crores is added to the budget, which makes the entire budget around Rs. 4,485 crores.
Since Revanth Reddy has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Telangana, a new scheme, ‘Maha Lakshmi,’ was introduced. This scheme allows free public transport on buses for women to reduce their financial burden. There are 7,227 buses running across the state that have provided free rides to approximately 149.63 crores of women to date.

This scheme helped women to save Rs. 5005.95 crores across the state. Initially, the occupancy rate of RTC has been as low as 69% among all the transport vehicles available. After the introduction of the Maha Lakshmi scheme, the occupancy increased to 94%, and now it has reached 100%.
Deputy CM assurance:
Talking about this, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka revealed that this also helped in developing the revenue for the RTC. The significant increase in the revenue not only helped to introduce a larger number of buses. But also made space and resources to hire many employees for better service. He also ensured that the funds are reaching RTC from the government for continuous service to the public. The Maha Lakshmi scheme not only helped citizens but also aided in the revenue generation which led to better service provision.
