University of Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to develop the land with an IT park in the land of the University of Hyderabad. This is going to be 400 acres of land at Kancha Gachibowli borders. After the announcement in the assembly, a section of students started opposing the proposal of the auction land, citing environmental concerns.
On Sunday, students noticed “Bulldozers” in the site and started protesting against it and raised slogans against the police, and demanded to “Go back”. In this protest, police detained almost 53 students in preventive custody, and later they were released.

Revanth Reddy, the chief minister of Telangana, recently accused the Assembly of inciting university students and filing Public Interest Litigations in relation to the land’s planned development.
The government wants to encourage investment, IT parks, and large-scale employment, he said, noting that the land is situated near the city’s IT hub’s Financial District. According to him, the land piece has no connection to the university. Students, however, argue that the Mushroom Rock region close to UoH’s East Campus is part of the land. According to an earlier statement from a UoH official, the land was never given to the university and has been owned by the state government since 1974.
