YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Named Accused in Fatal Road Accident in Andhra Pradesh

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy: YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been identified as a major accused. In a deadly road accident in Palnadu district. The accident took place when he visited Rentapalla village recently, generating controversy and fresh debate about accountability in high-profile entourages.


Incident Details: Old Man Run Down by Convoy Car

On June 18, Jagan Mohan Reddy was heading to offer condolences to the family of a YSRCP leader who had taken his own life the year before. As his convoy was moving through the Etukuru bypass near Guntur, an old man, Singaiah, was reportedly crushed by one of the cars from the convoy. The victim had serious bleeding injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him brought dead.

Evidence Proves Convoy Involvement

Guntur district Superintendent of Police S Satish Kumar confirmed in a press conference that CCTV footage, drone visuals. And circumstantial evidence clearly indicated that the deceased was run over by the vehicle of the former Chief Minister. With this evidence, the police formally named Jagan Mohan Reddy as an accused in the case.


Legal Action and Charges

A case was first registered under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Death caused by negligence on the basis of a complaint lodged by the wife of the deceased, Cheeli Lurdhu Mary. After further investigation, the case has been changed to incorporate more severe charges under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and Section 49 (abetment).

Other Defendants in the Case

Apart from Jagan Mohan Reddy himself, his driver, Ramana Reddy; his Personal Assistant, K Nageshwar Reddy; senior YSRCP leader YV Subbareddy; former MLA, Perni Venkataramaiah; and former Minister, Vidadala Rajini were named in the FIR. Police stated all legal activities will be carried out

The investigation is in progress but the case has definitely attracted public interest and political attention. The incident highlights a serious need for accountability and transparency in state convoys and public service. Regardless of how high or responsible the person(s) are.
