Dabba Cartel Review:
Very few films or series have been made in India on women like gangsters or lady dons. In the OTT space, Dimple Kapadia’s starrer Saas Bahu and Flamingo and Sushmita Sen’s Aarya have also moved forward with the same vision. But in 2019, an attempt like the Hollywood hit The Kitchen has happened for the first time in the Hindi space with Dabba Cartel on Netflix.
Story Of Dabba Cartel
Vishnu Menon and Bhavana Kher have started the story of the Dabba Cartel from Mumbai’s Viva Life Housing Complex. All the employees of a pharmaceutical company VIVA LIFE live, from the managing CEO to the clerk’s family. Hari, a middle-level employee of this pharma company, wants to shift to Germany with his family after getting close to the bosses and jumping up the ladder of promotion. His wife Raji runs a dabba business with Mala, the maid of the house. To make it popular, she also keeps a packet of a sexual potency enhancing herb so that the demand for this dabba increases among women.
There is another link in this story: Hari’s mother, Raji’s mother-in-law, Sheela. The secrets of her past life complicate this story further. A house broker, Shahida, increases the connections of this cartel. Vivo Life Pharma’s ex-finance officer, Varuna, whose husband, Shankar, is currently the India chief of the pharma company. These housewives together started distributing ganja and MDMA in the box in which packets of sexual potency enhancing herbs were distributed along with food. And then, like the international series Breaking Bad, this Dabba Cartel makes a new experimental drug, Mithai, by mixing VIVA LIFE’s banned drug, Modela and MDMA.
How women who run a household, a job and a business get trapped in a drug syndicate. Get entangled with drug cartels and how a storm comes in their life. That reaches from a business started with the desire to earn some extra money to a war with drug cartels.
