Suzhal Season 2 Review: The second season of South Cinema’s most awaited web series, Sujal – The Vortex, has been streamed. Its second part was streamed on Amazon Prime Video on 28 February. This is a crime thriller series of Tamil cinema made by director and writer Pushkar-Gayatri in the year 2022.
Now the second part of ‘Sujal – The Vortex’ has been released, which is getting tremendous response on social media. At the same time, a lot of enthusiasm was also seen among the fans. Aishwarya Rajesh, Lal, Gauri Kishan and Kathir are seen in the lead roles in this series, whose brilliant characters managed to win the hearts of the audience.
As Season 2 begins in Kaalipattanam, Nandini (played by Aishwarya Rajesh) is imprisoned for using SI Sakkarai aka Chakravarthy’s (Kathir) service revolver to murder her sister’s abuser, an event depicted in Season 1. Chellappa (Lal), a lawyer who is like a father figure to Sakkarai, is diligently working on Nandini’s case in hopes of securing her release. However, the situation takes a dramatic turn when Chellappa is discovered shot dead in his cottage. Muthu (Gouri Kishan) is found at the crime scene with the murder weapon, but just as she is taken into custody by Sakkarai and his team, seven other girls from different towns come forward, each claiming responsibility for the murder. The questions that arise are: Who truly killed Chellappa? Who are these girls, and what connects them?
The second season successfully builds on the suspenseful atmosphere of its predecessor. Created by the talented duo Pushkar-Gayathri, the show continues to blend mystery with intense character exploration. While the pacing is more measured than in the first season, it allows for a deeper understanding of the characters and their complex motivations. However, this slower tempo may not suit everyone, as it sometimes causes the storyline to feel prolonged.
When it comes to the plus points of the thriller season, the number one reason will be the star cast’s outstanding performance. Aishwarya Rajesh, Kathir and other actors delivered outstanding performances. The series perfectly blended mystery with folklore, making this series unique from routine crime thrillers. The gripping narrative and suspenseful background score added to the series, making it one of the best series on Amazon Prime Video. Its cinematography and exciting storytelling make the series very engaging to the viewers.
Despite having the unique strengths for the series, sadly some draw backs were making the audiance feel there are some short comings. This season has a much slower pace, though it is necessary for building character. Viewers found it boring. At some point, the story of the series felt a bit dragged. Some parts of the series seem to be predictable, making viewers lose interest in what’s coming next. Compared to the first one, as a viewer, it felt the intensity of the second season was off. Though the series is worth watching, season two failed to captivate the first season’s essence.
Suzhal Season 2 Rating: 2/5
