Anupama Parameswaran Reacts as Her Film Collects Just ₹1 Crore On BO

Anupama Parameswaran: In theatres this August, Paradha marked one of the most auspicious films in Anupama Parameswaran’s career. The film directed by Praveen Kandregula, starred Anupama alongside Darshana Rajendran and Sangeetha Krish. Heavy pre-release excitement and an emotional narrative bodes well. However, once the flick released in theatres, Paradha could not create that expected impact.

Biggest Miss

As per trade analysts, the film was made on a budget of ₹15 crore, but its total collection at the box office has made hardly ₹1.22 crore. The numbers are clear that Paradha could recover less than half of the production cost, this translating to being an utter failure at the box office. According to data from industry tracker Sacnilk, with many shows across Kerala, the economical performance has been yet another testimony to the failure of Paradha.

Anupama Parameswaran Reaction On The Failure

In reaction to the film’s collections, actress Anupama Parameswaran revealed her sadness and admitted that she felt heartbroken over how it turned out. This answer did sit well with her many fans, who appreciated the actress’s honest answers and commitment to meaningful cinema.

Plot and Reception

Paradha tells the story of Subbu, a young woman from a traditional village where women cover their faces with veils. The narrative discussed topics regarding identity, cultural norms, and the liberty of the self. Although the groundwork was virtuous, viewers felt the film let them down in terms of pacing and emotional intensity.

The film subsequently premiered on OTT platforms on September 12, but the digital release was also a damp squib. With the releases earlier this year being Dragon, Kishkindhapuri, and The Pet Detective, Anupama remains active, but Paradha is still among one of her most difficult outings.
