for now, Suriya’s Kanguva has only 50% occupancy at theatres. While Amaran got another 50% occupancy. Amaran directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, stars Sai Pallavi and Shivakarthikeyan in lead roles. The film has emerged as one of the best Diwali releases. Now Amaran is giving tough competition to Kanguva.

Despite the setback, Kanguva is still one of the highly anticipated films. Starring Suriya in the lead role, Disha Patani in the female lead and Bobby Deol plays the antagonist. Kanguva marks the Tamil debut of both Disha Patani and Bobby Deol.

Reason To Make Kanguva

In a recent conversation, Suriya revealed his vision on making Kanguva. He first explained the meaning of the name ‘Kanguva’. He said, ‘Kanga is the name of a material that comes during a volcanic eruption. That material is called Kanga. When that word is used to name a person, it goes like Kanguva”. He meant to say that kanguva is usually the powerful person as fire.

The upcoming action thriller not only marks Suriya’s return to the theaters after his previous theatrical release in a lead role called Etharkkum Thunindhavan in 2022 but also actor’s first pan India release. However, Suriya and Kollywood heavily rely on film’s theatrical success . Is it merely a financial benefit, or could this pave the door for mainstream cinema to enter a new era?
