Recently filmmaker Atlee appeared on a Netflix talk show, The Great Indian Kapil Show. But a joke made by Kapil Sharma sparked the controversy on the internet. His joke fairly divided the internet in half because the comment seemed a bit offending on Atlee’s appearance. Now singer Chinmayi Sripaada weighs in on the ongoing controversy. Now Chinmayi Sripaada slams Kapil Sharma’s racist Comments on Atlee. Here’s how the singer reacted.
In a recent episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Atlee made an appearance with the cast of Baby John which includes Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi. In the conversation, Kapil subtly cracked a joke about Atlee. He asked, “When you get to meet a star for the first time, do they ask, where is Atlee?” This question became controversial, rather than comedy it felt like a derogatory comment about Atlee’s appearance.
To this, Atlee replied by saying, “In a way, I understood your question. I’ll try to answer. I’m actually very thankful to AR Murugadoss sir because he produced my first film. He asked for a script, but he didn’t see how I was looking or whether I was capable of it or not. But, he loved my narration. I think the world should see that. We should not judge by appearance. You have to judge by your heart.” This clip from the show is surfing on the internet causing controversy. Neither comedian Kapil Sharma nor director Atlee reacted to the issue yet.
Chinmayi Sripaada, the singer didn’t like the joke made by Kapil Sharma. She took her Twitter account and reposted the viral video and wrote “Will they never stop these crass and racist jibes at his skin colour in the name of ‘comedy’?” The singer then continued saying, “Someone with the amount of influence and clout like Kapil Sharma saying something like this is disappointing and unfortunately, not surprising.” Not only Chinmayi Sripaada but many fans of the director Atlee were not okay with the joke and flooded the comment section expressing their disappointment.
