Superstar Rajinkanth is prepared to return to the big screen with his eagerly anticipated movie Coolie. Before beginning the 100-day countdown before its debut, the producers recently unveiled a new teaser. Although viewers have responded well to the preview, there is a unique reason why it is currently going viral.

The teaser for Rajinikanth’s Coolie

Fans took note of Rajinikanth’s recreation of his famous sunset scene from his all-time great movie Thalapathi in the teaser. There are currently several videos on social media that contrast the Coolie teaser with the famous scene from Thalapathi.

Ilaiyaraaja Song in Coolie:

The Coolie teaser also features Vaa Vaa Pakkam Vaa, a popular song by Ilaiyaraaja from the 1983 film Thanga Magan. The song sparked controversy when the legendary composer filed a copyright claim. However, the court ruled that Ilaiyaraaja didn’t hold complete ownership rights, since someone else wrote the lyrics. The court also confirmed that Sun Pictures secured the necessary permissions to use the song.

Mani Ratnam wrote and directed Thalapathi, a gangster drama starring Rajinikanth, Mammootty, and Arvind Swamy, with backing from G. Venkateswaran. Jaishankar, Amrish Puri, Srividya, Bhanupriya, Shobana, and Geetha also played significant roles in the film.

Coolie: plot, cast, and release date

Around the time of Independence Day weekend, on August 14, Coolie will be released in theaters. The narrative centers on a man’s unrelenting pursuit of retribution motivated by his desire to make amends for past wrongs.

Cast:

Alongside Rajinikanth, Coolie features an ensemble cast including Shruti Haasan, Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj. Reports suggest that Aamir Khan will appear in a special cameo. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj officially revealed the film’s title on April 22.

Release date:

The makers reportedly filmed Coolie in Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Visakhapatnam, and Bangkok, and they’re promoting it as the perfect family entertainer. Following that, Anirudh Ravichander composed the music, marking his fifth collaboration with Rajinikanth. The team first announced the project in September 2023 with the working title Thalaivar 171 and revealed the official title Coolie in April 2024.
