The director had envisioned the film with Mahesh Babu in mind and even considered casting Chiranjeevi in a special guest role for the climax. However, these plans didn’t materialize, and Naga Chaitanya stepped in, delivering a performance that won hearts across the nation.

The movie was also released simultaneously in Tamil, where it was titled Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, starring Simbu and Trisha. While the Tamil version was widely appreciated, the Hindi remake, Ek Tha Deewana, didn’t perform as well at the box office.
