HanuMan Producer vs Prasanth Varma:
The Telugu film industry is witnessing a serious clash between HanuMan producer K. Niranjan Reddy and director Prasanth Varma. The dispute has now turned legal, with both sides filing complaints before the Telugu Film Chamber. According to reports, the conflict revolves around money by project commitments and ownership rights.
In his complaint, producer Niranjan Reddy stated that Prasanth Varma had agreed to direct four films under Prime Show Entertainment Adhira, Mahankali, Jai HanuMan and Brahma Rakshasa. Reddy claims to have paid Varma a total of ₹10.34 crore as an advance for these projects. He also mentioned paying another ₹10.23 crore for the film Octopus, which was originally under a different producer. However, Reddy says he never received an official clearance (NOC) for that film.
Reddy further alleged that Varma later backed out of directing Adhira and Mahankali and instead brought in new directors, Vijay Binni and Pooja Kolluru. Even after paying advances to these directors, Varma reportedly announced the same films with another banner, RKD Studios. Reddy also accused him of making Jai HanuMan and Brahma Rakshasa with other production houses like Mythri Movie Makers and Hombale Films. He has demanded ₹20.57 crore with 36% interest and ₹200 crore in compensation for business losses.
Prasanth Varma, in his response, denied these claims. He said there were no agreements for Adhira and Mahankali, and that he holds the intellectual property (IP) rights to HanuMan, meaning Reddy cannot claim ownership of Jai HanuMan. Varma admitted receiving ₹15.82 crore for his work on HanuMan and ₹1 crore for the Adhira teaser but denied any wrongdoing.
Prasanth Varma also accused Reddy of diverting HanuMan’s funds to other projects like Darling, Sambarala Yeti Gattu, and Billa Ranga Baasha. He further claimed he is yet to receive his rightful share from HanuMan, which collected ₹295 crore nett.
The Telugu film industry now awaits the Film Chamber’s decision on this high-profile dispute.
