Ilaiyaraaja Slaps ₹5 Cr Notice on ‘Good Bad Ugly’ Team

According to reports, the directors of the upcoming movie Good Bad Ugly have received a legal letter from renowned Indian music composer Ilaiyaraaja, claiming ₹5 crore in damages. Why? The purportedly unlawful use of his well-known pieces in the movie’s advertising. The renowned composer reportedly filed a lawsuit after the movie crew exploited some of Ilaiyaraaja’s iconic compositions. It is reported that they were obtained without the appropriate consent or rights.

Given Ilaiyaraaja’s prominence and heritage in Indian cinema. This decision has generated debate throughout the film and music industries. The maestro has previously been outspoken about the ownership and exploitation of his original songs. This was not the first time he had stood out for intellectual property rights.
