In 2025, India’s OTT space is booming with numerous shows attracting large audiences on platforms like Netflix, JioCinema, and Amazon Prime Video. Despite the fierce competition from popular series like Aashram, Panchayat and even Squid Game 3, one show has emerged as the most-watched OTT series of the year with 27.7 million views Criminal Justice: A Family Matter starring Pankaj Tripathi.

The show available on JioHotstar, captivated viewers across the country, even though it didn’t feature an ensemble cast of big stars. Criminal Justice Season 4 was released in late May 2025, with the first three episodes launching at once and new episodes being released weekly. Pankaj Tripathi’s portrayal of lawyer Madhav Mishra has once again won over audiences, joined by a talented cast including Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Surveen Chawla and Khushboo Atre.


According to Ormax Media’s Top 50 Streaming Originals list, Criminal Justice Season 4 beat out some heavy-hitting shows, including Bobby Deol’s Aashram and Jitendra Kumar’s Panchayat. Despite not having an ensemble of huge stars, the gripping storyline and strong performances drove Criminal Justice to the top.

After Criminal Justice, Aashram Season 3 came in second place, amassing 27.1 million views. Panchayat Season 4 secured the third spot, drawing 23.8 million viewers. Following the top three, other popular series included Paatal Lok (16.8M viewers) and Squid Game Season 3 (16.5M viewers), highlighting the growing demand for diverse content on streaming platforms.

India’s OTT landscape is clearly evolving, offering a wide range of content that resonates with audiences, whether it’s thrilling dramas like Criminal Justice or familiar global hits like Squid Game.
