Kannada Controversy: There is no indication that the controversy surrounding the famous actor Kamal Haasan’s statement that “Kannada is born out of Tamil” would go away. After being told by a film organization that his film Thug Life would not be distributed in the state until he apologized for his comment, the actor filed a petition for redress in the Karnataka High Court today.
“Thug Life will not play Karnataka if he does not issue an apology. Without a doubt, the state is at issue here, not the industry. Pro-Kannada organizations and even political parties are voicing opposition, emphasizing that he must react. Without his apology, the distribution of the film is challenging. Neither our distributors nor exhibitors are prepared to screen it. How is the film able to be released here? M. Narasimhalu, president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, stated.
Kamal Haasan vs. Kannada Row:
The renowned actor claimed that “Kannada was born out of Tamil” at a promotional event for Thug Life, which stars Mr. Haasan, Trisha Krishnan, and Silambarasan TR. Politicians from all parties attacked the actor after the comment caused a huge commotion. According to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Mr. Hassan “doesn’t know about it.” The Kannada language has a rich history.

BY Vijayendra, the leader of the Karnataka BJP, has called for an apology. “A person must cherish their mother tongue, but showing off in its name is a sign of cultural ineptitude. Artists in particular must have the attitude of honoring all languages,” he stated. According to the BJP representative, Mr. Haasan has appeared in Kannada and other languages’ films, but his comment demonstrates “blatant arrogance”. A number of Kannada-supporting organizations have criticized the actor and called for an apology.
However, the actor has stated unequivocally that he has no intention of apologizing. “A democracy exists there. I support justice and the rule of law. I genuinely adore Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. The only people who will detect it are those with an agenda. He said, “I was threatened earlier as well. If I’m wrong, I’ll apologize; if not, I won’t.”
