The upcoming Telugu film “Kannappa” directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, and produced by M. Mohan Babu has garnered significant attention due to its ensemble cast, including Vishnu Manchu, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar and others. Recently the film’s promotional materials, particularly, the movie posters has been subjected to both praise and criticism.
The first-look poster featuring Prabhas as ‘Rudra’ was unveiled on feb 3, 2025. In the poster, Prabhas was seen with a matted hair, a forehead smeared with sandal wood paste, and holding a staff topped with a crescent moon-like structure embodying a hermit-like appearance. The accompanying text describes ‘Rudra’ as the “raging storm” and “the guide through times past and future” ,suggesting a character of significant power and mystique.
While many fans has expressed their excitement for the Prabhas’ portrayal, The movie promotions on the other hand has been facing heavy criticisms. A report from 6 months ago stated that despite the film’s star-studded cast and substantial budget, the promotional materials- as they lack in the quality failed to generate the expected buzz. The movie trailer received mixed reactions and the character reveal posters were mocked by the netizens for their design and quality.
Additionally some of the Reddit discussions among the audience has brought out an assumption that, some of the character reveal posters could to be AI-generated, which in turn bought out the inefficiency and perceived lack of effort in promotional content.
Despite all the ongoing criticisms and mocking, the movie promotional contents have been facing the movie is set to release on April 25, 2025 in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English. However, the poor design and lack of quality in the content is creating the buzz of the film.
