L2 Empuraan Faces 17 Cuts Amid Riot Scene Controversy

L2 Empuraan Faces 17 Cuts: A few days after Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s starrer ‘L2 Empuraan’ hit the theaters, there is now news that the filmmakers will make some changes to it. According to reports, the makers of Empuraan have decided to make 17 cuts in the film. Apart from this, some of the film’s dialogues will also be muted. The name of the villain, Baba Bajrangi, will also be changed.

The screening will be next week

According to reports, the new version will be censored by the Central Board of Film Certification and will be screened from next week. The decision comes after some Hindu organizations in the state allegedly claimed that L2 Empuraan defames their religion. However, official information in this case is awaited.

A change will be made in the film

Earlier, L2: Empuraan producer Gokulam Gopalan said that he had asked director-actor Prithviraj to change the film as it was claimed that the film hurt the sentiments of a certain section of the audience. While talking to Manorama Online, the producer said, ‘If any scene or dialogue shown in the film offends anyone, then I have asked director Prithviraj to change it.’

Protests on the sets of the film

The producer added, ‘Some words have been muted at the moment. There have been protests over some things shown in the film, and I have asked the director if he can make any changes to it. They should do that. There was no problem when the film was censored. We have no relation to any political party; I see politics as a service.

Why did the film change?

The film indirectly depicts the events surrounding the Gujarat riots, focusing on the backstory of Sukumaran’s character, Zayed Masood. The film also critically examines alleged misuse of central agencies by the ruling party. BJP’s state secretary S. Suresh said, ‘Ampuran film is not a political issue. Kerala BJP will not interfere in this. Film lovers have the freedom to watch a film and support or criticize it.
