About L2 Empuraan

L2 Empuraan is a film directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran starring Mohanlal in the lead role. It is a sequel to the 2019 film ‘Lucifer’. It is the second part of the ‘Lucifer’ franchise. The story of this movie was written by Murali Gopi. It was jointly produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, Lyca Productions, and Sri Gokulam Movies. While Mohanlal played the lead role in this film, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Abhinay Singh, and foreign actor Jerome Flynn played important roles.

Empuraan Controversy

Everyone is aware of the controversies pertaining the movie. Prithviraj was criticized for the Empuraan controversy. Prithviraj Sukumaran’s mother reacted strongly to this. She said that the film was not anyone’s decision, but that only her son was being sacrificed. Finally, Mohanlal came up with an apology. He said that the film is more important to him than anything else, and asked for forgiveness if anyone’s sentiments were hurt.

Some criticized the scenes of riots shown in the film, especially those that resembled violence targeting a particular group. Also, some found the name of a villain character, ‘Bajrangi’, offensive. However, those scenes were eventually deleted. It seems that the villain’s name was also changed. 24 scenes, approximately 2 minutes long, were removed.

Mollywood’s first ₹300 crore film

Mohanlal recently made a post related to this film. He announced that the film has earned more than 325 crores in 30 days. In fact, it is sky-high to earn 100 crores in Mollywood. Mohanlal created records there by earning 325 crores in one go. So far, there has not been a 200 crore film in Mollywood. Even a 100 crore film has come from Mohanlal.

Now Mohanlal has made it big with 325 crores in one go. It is said that Lucifer was initially fixed as a three-part film. He said that the second part was made after the first part was a hit. It is known that Mohanlal had announced in the promotions that if the second part is also a hit, the third part will be made.
