Lokah OTT Release: With its first fantasy action film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, Malayalam cinema has changed visual narrative in the business. Directed by Arun Dominic, this groundbreaking movie is the first Malayalam film with a female hero. Lokah, the first Malayalam movie to join the ₹300 crore club, changed the conventions of local film with its great technical perfection and courageous narrative.
Inspired on the well-known Kalliyankattu Neeli mythology, Kalyani Priyadarshan stars as Neeli and Chandra in dual roles. Today’s world mixes myths: Lokah captivated crowds in movie theaters as well as critics. Gorgeous imagery, original narrative, and really excellent performances helped to make this movie a big hit.
Following a great box office run, the movie made its Disney+ Hotstar premiere recently and still attracts great audiences and respect.
Shockingly, Lokah found herself under a rash of web criticism despite favorable reviews. Some of the viewers have gone so far as to suggest that it is a piece of propaganda in which Bengaluru and its people are demonized. The critics insist the story could have been placed in Kerala rather than degrading another city and people.
They also observed a tendency with Malayalam movies, arguing that Aavesham and now Lokah show Bengaluru as a hub of gang culture and criminality. Some viewership segments have even requested that the Karnataka government pay attention to this depiction. Moreover, some reviewers contend that the film distorts Hindus, so fanning an even more contentious debate.
Many, meanwhile, have defended the movie, arguing that Lokah must be seen as an art form rather than just a political or social problem. Supporters claim that unwarranted arguments progressively limit artistic expression and inventiveness.
Currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra continues to be the most discussed-nay, controversial-subject not only for its technical genius but also for all the jibes it has sparked.
