Lokesh Kanagaraj reveals his upcoming LCU movie line up

Lokesh Kanagaraj , known for distinct style of action filmmaking and the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), the most bankable and celebrated film franchise in India. He is set to release a short film, Chapter Zero : Origin of LCU exploring the origins of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe and is currently filming on a standalone film Coolie with Superstar Rajinikanth.

In a recent conversation with a media , Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed that his much anticipated action sequel Kaithi 2 is in the pre production process. He also said that he has planning for Rolex standalone film based on a character from 2019 action Vikram movie and intends to conclude the Lokesh Cinematic Universe with Vikram 2.

Lokesh, who is excited to bring back the character Dilli in Kaithi 2, describes this endeavor as a return to his roots. He underlined that his protagonists are average folks battling for their families, not superheroes. He also stated that his films attempt to convey powerful messages, notably about creating a drug-free society, which he thinks will appeal with younger audiences. He also revealed that he is planning for a multistarrer starring all the hero’s from the LCU , Kaithi, Vikram, Leo and others. There’s a rumor circulating on the internet that he signed a film with Prabhas, which is yet to be confirmed by actor and director.

Lokesh announced Benz, a collaboration with Raghava Lawrence that will feature his’s story and Raghava Lawrence’s action style and recently announced Kaithi 2, Vikram 2, Coolie, and Rolex standalone film from LCU franchise. He is busy in filming Coolie starring Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. The film has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography handled by Girish Gangadharan and editing by Philomin Raj.

The action thriller is bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures with an estimated budget of Rs 500 crores. Coolie is scheduled to release worldwide in 2025 in standard and IMAX formats in multiple languages.
