Marco, starring Unni Mukundan, debuted digitally on SonyLIV,on Feb 14. Although the creators first stated that the unedited and raw version would be made available on OTT, it has since been verified that the platform does not currently offer this version. The theatrical version has been made available on the streaming service due to a number of complaints.
The initial intention was to release the uncut version of Marco on OTT, the film’s creators said on social media. The makers stated that, as a conscientious production firm, they made sure that all rules were followed while maintaining the spirit of the movie.
They were forced to offer the same theatrical version on OTT as a result. The team hoped for ongoing support from viewers and supporters and expressed excitement about introducing Marco to a larger audience on SonyLIV.
“Initially, we have planned to release ‘Marco’ uncut version for OTT. However, since various complaints were raised to the Ministry of Broadcasting, we were unable to proceed with that version. As a responsible production company, we have ensured compliance with all regulatory guidelines while maintaining the film’s core essence and cinematic experience. Hence we were forced to proceed with the same theatrical content on OTT also,” their statement read.
Fans expressed their disappointment in the comment section shortly after the Marco creators issued the remark.
