Nayanthara’s Lawyer Opens Up

Actor Dhanush filed a civil lawsuit against Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan for using 3 seconds of footage from his production Naanum Rowdy Dhaan for her Documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. In a recent revelation, Nayanthara’s lawyer said, they have formally responded to Dhanush’s lawsuit claiming copyright infringement, Nayanthara lawyer claims that no copyright laws have been violated in the use of the visuals.

The lawyer representing Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan is Rahul Dhawan who is Managing Partner, Lex Chambers. The lawyer said “Our response is that there is no infringement or violation because what has been utilised by us in the docu-series is not part of behind-the-scenes (from the film). The same is part of a personal library, Therefore this is not infringement.” they claim that 3-second footage dose is not come under copyright violation as it was shot in personal devices. The lawyer also revealed that the next hearing is expected to take place on Monday at Madras High Court.


What’s The Conflict

The lady superstar openly vented her frustration in an open letter, referring to Dhanush for filing a case of copyright infringement. Supporting the actress, her husband and director Vignesh Shivan join her in the copyright battle. The upcoming documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale is now facing copyright infringement.

Nayanthara accused Dhanush producer Naanum Rowdy Dhaan of harboring jealousy toward her success. She mentioned that the actor sent her a Rs 10 crore notice for a 3-second BTS clip, which was featured in her documentary. According to local news reports, Dhanush’s legal representatives have emphasised that he is the sole owner of all media associated with the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.
