Oscars Awards 2025: The 97th Academy Awards recently shared the eligible nomination list of Oscar nominees ( Oscars2025 Contender list) for the prestigious Best Picture Award category. Fortunately, seven Indian films are eligible for the Best Picture category out of 323 nominees. The list includes Suriya Shivakumar’s periodic action entertainer Kanguva, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s survival thriller Aadujeevitham, Putul, Santosh, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, All We Imagine as Light, and Girls Will Be Girls.  Academy  dropped the list on it’s social media platforms.

As the 97th Academy Awards approach in two months, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 323 feature films eligible for this year’s Oscars. Seven Indian films have made the shortlist for Best Picture, out of 207 total. One of the standout possibilities is Suriya’s Kanguva, which, after initially receiving poor reviews at the box office, has finally cemented a spot among the Oscar hopefuls. The film also features Bobby Deol and Disha Patani.

,Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) (Malayalam),Santosh (Hindi), Swatantrya Veer Savarkar (Hindi), All We Imagine as Light (Malayalam-Hindi), Girls Will Be Girls (Hindi-English) and Putul (Bengali) ,Putul is the first Bengali film to be considered for Best Picture. Despite a mixed response from the box office and audience, the big-budget Kollywood epic fantasy Kanguva has now made it to Oscar Awards 2025 contenders’ list to everyone’s surprise. Anuja, a short film produced by Guneet Monga, is shortlisted for Live Action Short. In 2023, producer Guneet won her second Academy Award for the Netflix documentary short, The Elephant Whisperers and is aming for another Oscars award thi year.


Oscar nominations will be announced on January 17, 2025, followed by the award ceremony on March 2, 2025.. The nominations voting period will take place from January 8th, 2025 at at the Dolby Theatre.
