Soon to release, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s action entertainer Khalifa is steadily making waves on the net. Directed by Vysakh, the action-drenched first teaser of the film, accompanied with some really powerful back score, already crossed 5 million views in all social network sites and counting. The actor shared with this landmark, thanking fans for their enormous response.
Prithviraj plays the character Ameer Ali in Khalifa, which is obviously intense and powerful. The teaser video shows some really interesting chase sequences, breathtaking imagery and a pulsating score by Jakes Bejoy, creating an environment for what is promised to be a mass-action drama. The tagline, “Pratikaram Swarnathil Ezhuthappedum” (Revenge will be written in gold), suggests a revenge-laden and yet stylish and emotional content.
The film has been scripted by Jinu V. Abraham, who has also co-produced the movie along with Suraj Kumar. Vysakh, the man who knows the art of making grand entertainers par excellence, is joining hands with Prithviraj after a gap of 15 years- their last film together was the 2010 hit Pokkiriraja.
The buzz has already been set by the reunion of Prithviraj and Vysakh, which has kept the fans ecstatic. An act will be an utter “high-voltage mass entertainer,” states the director, adding that the action sequences will be on a grand scale. The cinematography would be handled by Satyan Sooryan, ensuring a visual treat, while Shamshir Mohammed takes care of editing.
Khalifa was shot in several countries, including the UK, UAE (Dubai), Nepal, and India. The production team has some of the best technicians in the industry: production design is by Shaji Naduwila, action choreography by Yannick Ben, and sound design by Sync Cinema.
As grand, stylish visuals and the compelling screen presence of Prithviraj put the icing on the cake, Khalifa seems set to emerge as one of the most anticipated Malayalam films of the year. The viral first glimpses of the film just add to the anticipation and promises of real cinema.
