Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Production of Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 came to an unexpected halt when junior artist MF Kapil drowned in the Kollur Souparnika River on Tuesday afternoon, while shooting had been paused. The incident prompted a halt in production temporarily while authorities investigated the cause of his death.
Kapil, who hails from Kerala and was an aspiring actor, went swimming in the river when he was swept by the currents. The rescue teams were immediately notified by witnesses. Local authorities and the fire department then mounted a search operation. Unfortunately, his body was retrieved later that same night.
The police at Kollur have filed a case and are investigating the accident thoroughly to ascertain the real reason behind it. The accident has hit the cast and crew hard, who have sent their condolences to Kapil’s family.
This is the most recent of a string of mishaps for Kantara: Chapter 1. Weeks ago, a bus filled with junior artists turned over at a point near Kollur, without any serious injuries. Another costly film set was also destroyed due to unfavourable weather, as production had to be halted. The team was also questioned by the forest officials for conducting their shoot, in what has raised more eyebrows about environmental concerns.
Even with these limitations, Kantara: Chapter 1 is one of the most highly anticipated movies. As a prequel to the 2022 hit Kantara, the tale is set within the Kadamba dynasty of Banavasi. Not only is it directed by Rishab Shetty, who is well-known for his contribution to the original film, but Rishab also writes the screenplay.

After the resumption of filming, Kantara: Chapter 1 will be released in Kannada first, and then dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and English will be released to reach a wider audience. It is reported that after its theatrical run, the film will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
