Real Inspiration Behind Pushpa Raj: Director Sukumar has not revealed his next project after the massive success of Pushpa 2: The Rule. Starring Allu Arjun, the film made history by collecting over ₹1,800 crore worldwide becoming the second highest-grossing Indian film ever.
In the Pushpa series, Allu Arjun played a red sanders smuggler named Pushpa Raj. During an event in Chennai, Sukumar shared how he came up with the character’s name.
“Red sanders smuggling has been happening in South India for many years. I first planned to make a documentary about the smugglers. During my research, I met many of them. One of them was named Pushpa Raj, and people used to call him Pushpa. I found the name interesting and decided to use it for Allu Arjun’s character,” said Sukumar.
Though Sukumar has not confirmed his next film, there are rumors that he may collaborate with Rangasthalam star Ram Charan. However, there is no official announcement yet. If this project happens, it is expected to start filming in 2026.
Pushpa 2: The Rule is a 2024 action film produced by Mythri Movie Makers in collaboration with Sukumar Writings. Serving as a sequel to Pushpa: The Rise (2021), it marks the second chapter in the Pushpa franchise. Allu Arjun reprises his role as the lead, joined by Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, Sunil, and Rao Ramesh. The story follows Pushpa Raj, a laborer who rises to power in red sandalwood smuggling while battling growing threats from his adversaries including SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat.
Pushpa 2 climax hinted at Pushpa 3. However Allu Arjun is busy with back to back pan-Indian projects.Allu Arjun is set to work with Kollywood director Atlee on a new project which is expected to be a mass entertainer. He also announced a collaboration with director Koratala Siva. But there’s no update on the film yet. Also, Naga Vamsi announced a film with Trivikram and Allu Arjun.
