Bison: Filmaker Mari Selvaraj finds himself once again in the eye of the social media storm with these costume choices that have become an emerging topic of debate. It is being discussed by fans and social media users who have noticed the color and pattern of the lungis worn by the main characters in his films-Karnan, Vazhai, and the much-publicized Bison- are the same. A post by Excel highlighted this constant obsession with costumes, giving attention to Selva’s trademark.
The cultural and social significance of this lungi has been shown by the following films, whose cast includes Dhanush, Kalaiyarasan, and Dhruv Vikram in lungis that are similar to the typical wear of the Dalit communities in the Tirunelveli region. Observers say that by keeping this continuity in visuality, Selvaraj hints at the realities of caste and identity somewhere along lines of his overall race-conscious type of storytelling. Some fans believe that this is not just a fashion statement but instead a concealing way of acknowledging the social realities and making a statement against the ever-present caste system in society.
Dhruv Vikram is in the lead of Bison, alongside his love interest Anupama Parameswaran together in a major role. This casting cast also includes Lal and Rajish Vijayan from Malayalam cinema in major roles, supported by Pasupathi, Ameer, Azagam Perumal, Aruvi Madan, and Anurag Arora. While Vikram acts as the kabaddi player, this is not a biopic of Manathi Ganeshan; the film is a sports drama that speaks of the whole state of the game. Arasu enhances the cinematography with a promise of great visual sequences.
