Unni Mukundan Marco breaks SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 records in South Korea. Marco was released worldwide on 20 December 2024 in Kerala, coinciding with Christmas weekend, and received critical acclaim, becoming the highest grossing A-rated Malayalam film.


The Haneef Adeni directorial Marco is still unstoppable at the Indian box office. After smashing Mollywood box office the most violent Indian film is now creating new box-office records with its Hindi, Telugu and upcoming Tamil versions, the violent action thriller film is set to break SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2’s record in South Korea.

According to the makers, Marco will be releasing in 100+ screens in South Korea, as opposed to 24 screens of Baahubali 2 in 2017. They also claim that this is the biggest release for any Indian movie in South Korea.

Noori Pictures bought Marco’s Korean distribution rightsy, who intend to release the picture soon, according to the film’s creators. Fans believe that Marco’s genre could appeal to the South Korean audience, which has no reservations to making violent action films.

Marco stars Unni Mukundan, alongside Siddique, Jagadish, Abhimanyu S Thilakan, Kabir Duhan Singh, Anson Paul and Yukti Thareja. The music was composed by Ravi Basrur, while cinematography and editing were handled by Chandru Selvaraj and Shameer Muhammed respectively. It was bankrolled by Cubes Entertainments and Unni Mukundan films with an estimated budget of Rs 30 crores and collected more than Rs 77 crores and is succssfully heading towards Rs 100 crore club.

The action thriller did get off to a brilliant start in the Telugu States, after the release of its Telugu-dubbed version on January 1, 2025. It reportedly grossed close to Rs 1.75 Cr, according to makers, while industry trackers put this figure closer to Rs 1.1 Cr. Either way, it’s the highest single-day gross for a Telugu version of a Malayalam movie. The film reportedly dominated Varun Dhawan’s Baby John and is now successfully running in theaters in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages.
