Vetrimaaran and Vijay Sethupathi much anticipated action sequel Viduthalai: Part 2 was censored with an A certificate due to political dialogues. Read on for more exciting updates from upcoming action sequel.


The upcoming period crime thriller film starring Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Bhavani Sre, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah is helmed and co-produced by Vetrimaaran, under RS Infotainment and Grass Root Film Company. It is reportedly likely to receive an A certificate from the censor board.

According to a source, the CBFC may grant the movie an A certificate due to its sharp political dialogues. However, the makers have yet to confirm the details regarding the part 2 censor certification.


Viduthalai Part - 2

As the Viduthalai: Part 1 finished on a suspenseful note, the sequel would go deeper into the extremist leader’s life and the true cause of the train catastrophe. The first installment was favorably welcomed by both audiences and critics, resulting in a tremendous hit.As the sequel approaches release, stars Manju Warrier, Kishore, Anurag Kashyap, Bose Venkat, and others will play major new roles with the ensemble cast from the original film.

The film serves direct sequel to Viduthalai: Part 1and was adapted from books Thunaivan by B. Jeyamohan and Vengaichami by Thangam. The story is based on the real-life left-wing extremist leader Pulavar Kaliyaperumal (Perumal Vaathiyar played by Vijay Sethupathi) and his Tamil Nadu Liberation Army.

The film’s distribution rights for Tamil Nadu were acquired by Red Giant Movies. The streaming rights of the film were acquired by ZEE5, while the satellite rights were acquired by Kalaignar TV.

Viduthalai Part 2, along with the first part, was screened on 31 January 2024 in the International Film Festival Rotterdam. The film has music composed by Ilaiyaraaja, cinematography handled by R. Velraj and editing by R. Ramar. The period crime thriller film is scheduled to hit theatres  worldwide on 20 December 2024.
