The design has undergone many changes over the last 18 years.

Reflects the Idea:


The concept of the Indian Premier League is to promote local talent. The tournament provides a platform and opportunities for emerging players. Resonating the idea of IPL, a Sanskrit quote “Yatra Pratibha Avsara Prapnotihi” which translates to “Where talent meets opportunity” in English, is inscribed on the championship.
A fine work of craftsmanship:

The elegant and magnificent IPL Trophy is a spectacular work of craftsmanship that perfectly mirrors the scale and grandeur of the championship. The championship is made of gold and silver.
Colors:

Ribbons in the team colours are tied to the handles of the championship during IPL playoffs.
Height:

It is estimated to be approximately 15-20 inches (38-51 cm) in height
Weight:

It weighs around 4 kilograms (8.8 lbs).
Material:

It is made of gold and silver.
Base:

This extravagant title is mounted on a wooden base, it has the winners of previous seasons inscribed on the base.

Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural title in 2008. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians hold the joint record for winning maximum titles. Both franchises have won it five times. KKR won the championship on three occasions. Gujarat Titans, SRH, and Deccan Chargers won once. However, RCB, DC, Punjab, and LSG are yet to lift the trophy.
