India Crushes England, But It’s Sachin and Sourav’s Reactions Stealing the Show!

Sachin Applauds Gill’s Captaincy Debut

India’s long-awaited Test win at Edgbaston, England turned into a celebration of Shubman Gill’s captaincy. Leading the side for the first time, Gill smashed a brilliant 269 in the first innings and followed it with a 161 in the second. He also rotated his bowlers cleverly on Day 5 to wrap up a historic 336-run win.

Sachin Tendulkar couldn’t contain his excitement. He called Gill’s innings “Shublime” and praised his calm leadership. On X, he wrote, “Congratulations, Shubman Gill, on powering India to a brilliant Test victory!”

Sourav Ganguly Points Out Bumrah’s Absence

While Gill earned praise, Sourav Ganguly brought in some perspective. “India win without Bumrah.. Can’t be better,” he posted, highlighting India’s depth. Ganguly also lauded Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj, calling them true “workhorses” of the match. He stressed that India’s bowling looked sharper than England’s, even without their pace spearhead.

Akash Deep’s Dream Debut, Siraj’s Jonty Moment in England

Akash Deep was the surprise hero of the match. Drafted in after Bumrah was rested, he seized the opportunity with a stunning 10-wicket match haul. His second-innings 6/99 ripped through England’s top order, leaving their batsmen struggling to keep up. Tendulkar singled out his delivery to Joe Root, calling it the “ball of the series.” Deep’s performance showed India’s growing bench strength and depth in pace bowling.

Mohammed Siraj added flair with a diving catch to dismiss Josh Tongue. Sachin nicknamed him “Mohammad ‘Jonty’ Siraj”, comparing his agility and athleticism to the legendary fielder Jonty Rhodes. Siraj’s sharp fielding was crucial in breaking England’s momentum at key moments. His energy and commitment on the field inspired the entire team and delighted fans worldwide.
