Mahendra Singh Dhoni and CSK are synonymus with each other. Since the Indian Premier League began in 2008, he has been CSK’s heart and soul. MS is 43 years old, but his fitness is nothing less than that of a 23-year-old boy. The big question about his IPL retirement pops up at the beginning of every IPL edition, but the former Indian skipper and CSK captain always surprised his fans with his presence.

Dhoni is currently the oldest player in IPL 2025. Faf du Plessis is 40 plus, and Ashwin is 39 following him. The CSK wicket-keeper batter will turn 45 years old next year by this time. It is almost impossible to keep wickets and bat at this age in a high stakes involved competition like IPL. Since CSK won 5 trophies, and the recent one coming in 2023, no one made fuss about him. On the contrary, he would have been subjected to several discussions if CSK had not achieved this level of success.

No matter how fit and form Dhoni is, 45 age has its own complications. His vision and muscle flexibility will not be in his control. Now that speed, accuracy, and athleticism have become mandatory in cricket, it is doubtful if Dhoni will choose to play next season. His position will be replaced with a young cricketer who could prove a bonus for CSK in the long run.

Dhoni retired from all formats of cricket, but fans will go crazy to see him in the IPL. They must harden their hearts to see Dhoni saying good bye to the game anytime soon.
