IPL 2025 Restart: In light of the peace between India and Pakistan, the BCCI will meet today to discuss the IPL 2025 restart. Tournament schedule and venue alternatives will be discussed at the meeting, with a focus on the possibility of holding matches in South Indian cities.
After India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire on Saturday, the BCCI has indicated that it will meet today to consider potential ways for the IPL 2025 to resume. Notably, when tensions with Pakistan increased during the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor, the BCCI had previously declared a one-week suspension of the lucrative league.
BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla Statement:
“With the new development of a ceasefire, the BCCI, IPL Governing Council, office bearers, and officials will meet tomorrow to discuss the situation,” stated BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla following the Indian government’s announcement of a truce.
“We’ll go over the competition schedule and figure out how to do it as efficiently as possible. Everything that was initially settled upon during the conflict, including the locations, will be reexamined. The BCCI official also stated that a final decision would be made soon.

IPL 2025 Restart in South India:
In the recent press meet, Shukla said the BCCI may host the remaining IPL 2025 matches in South India. He mentioned Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore as likely venues. He added that they must address security concerns and consider several other options. Shukla concluded, “Give us some time, we’ll discuss with other office bearers and governing officials before making a decision.”
Since the Indian squad is scheduled to tour England for a five-match Test series in July, earlier reports suggested that the Indian cricket board wanted to host the IPL in May. Hosting the tournament in August or September would clash with the Caribbean Premier League, raising concerns about West Indian player availability or The Hundred, which could affect the participation of English players.
