The Delhi Premier League – DPL 2025 auction created major buzz after two high-profile youngsters joined the fray. Aryaveer Kohli, nephew of Virat Kohli, and Aaryavir Sehwag, son of Virender Sehwag, were picked by different franchises on Sunday.
Aryaveer, a promising leg-spinner, went to South Delhi Superstarz. The team already has one of the league’s costliest players, Digvesh Rathi, signed for 38 lakh. Aryaveer is the son of Virat’s elder brother, Vikas Kohli.
Aaryavir Sehwag had gone unsold last season. This year, Central Delhi Kings picked him up for 8 lakh after a bidding tussle. Aaryavir is a right-handed U-19 batter with growing potential. His father, Virender Sehwag, who is also the league’s brand ambassador, welcomed the move. “This season will be big. Players have a platform. Selectors are watching. Fans are watching. It’s time to shine,” he said.
The auction featured 520 players. Top picks included Simarjeet Singh (39 lakh to Central Delhi Kings), Nitish Rana (34 lakh to West Delhi Lions), and Prince Yadav (33 lakh to New Delhi Tigers).
Central Delhi Kings had retained Jonty Sidhu earlier. They strengthened their lineup with India U19 star Yash Dhull, pacer Simarjeet, and Pranshu Vijayran.
East Delhi Riders added international pace with Navdeep Saini. They retained youngster Mayank Rawat using the RTM card at 26 lakh. They also kept wicketkeeper-batter Anuj Rawat and opener Salil Malhotra.

Rohan Jaitley, President of DDCA, said the league was entering a new phase. “We revised our auction and added teams. We expanded the player pool. Delhi cricket is going big,” he said. With two new franchises and rising stars in action, the Delhi Premier League promises high-stakes cricket this season.
