Pakistan Hockey Team: The Pakistan junior men’s hockey team is set to travel to India to participate in the upcoming Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup. This development was confirmed by Hockey India Secretary General Bholanath Singh in a statement. He also mentioned that discussions with the central government regarding the Pakistani team’s visit are currently underway.
The prestigious international tournament will be hosted in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, with matches scheduled to take place in Chennai and Madurai. The Junior World Cup will run from November 28 to December 10, 2025.
For the first time in the tournament’s history, 24 teams will be competing. By marking a significant expansion from the previous edition, which featured only eight teams. The tournament draw is set to take place on June 25 in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Based on international rankings, the following teams have been seeded. Germany (Pool A), India (Pool B), Argentina (Pool C), Spain (Pool D), Netherlands (Pool E), and France (Pool F). These seeded teams represent the top-performing nations in junior men’s hockey.
The draw will also include three pots to determine the placement of the remaining teams:
Pot 1: Belgium, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, Malaysia, and New Zealand
Pot 2: Korea, Canada, Egypt, England, Japan, and Chile
Pot 3: Austria, Bangladesh, Ireland, Switzerland, China, and Namibia
Pakistan’s inclusion in the draw from Pot 1 highlights its strength and tradition in field hockey. Their participation in the World Cup hosted by India will be closely watched, considering the diplomatic sensitivities between the two nations. However, sporting events have often served as platforms to ease tensions and encourage cultural exchange.
