Rishabh Pant’s One-Handed Six Beats MS Dhoni’s Record: With his eighth century in the game’s longest format on Saturday against England in Leeds, Rishabh Pant continued his late Indian Premier League (IPL) form into England. It was Pant’s second century on English soil and his third against England.
Pant picked up where he left off on Day 1 with an overnight score of 65. The Indian southpaw went all out against the English spinner on the first ball of the 100th over to reach his three figures after hitting ninety with a four and a six against Shoaib Bashir in the 96th over.
Rishabh’s One-Handed Six:
Pant brought up his century by swinging his bat over the line and clearing the mid-wicket boundary while dancing down the track against a flighted delivery from Bashir. His famous somersault celebration came next, and at the other end, his captain, Shubman Gill, welcomed him.

After hitting an undefeated 118 for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025 final, this was Pant’s second straight century. Pant has also hit a six to earn a Test century for the third time. By the way, all three faced English spinners Adil Rashid, Joe Root, and Bashir. Only Sachin Tendulkar did it more than anyone else, six times, while Rohit Sharma did it three times.
Rishabh Pant Beats MS Dhoni’s Record:
In this century, Pant surpassed players like Wriddhiman Saha and MS Dhoni in terms of the most Test hundreds by Indian wicketkeepers. During their playing days, Saha scored three goals and Dhoni managed six, while Pant now has seven.
Hundreds by 3 Indians:
Three Indian hitters have now scored hundreds in a single Test innings for the fourth time. When Sunil Gavaskar, Kris Srikkanth, and Mohinder Amarnath all crushed tons against Australia in 1986, it was the first time such a feat was accomplished.
