India’s youth boxers shine bright in Bangkok with dominant show across U19 and U22 divisions. Ritika stole the spotlight at the U22 Asian Boxing Championships 2025 by winning gold in the women’s 80+kg category. She outclassed Kazakhstan’s Assel Toktassyn in a fierce final, mixing composure with aggression to claim India’s only gold in the U22 division. Her win helped India finish fourth in the U22 team standings.
India’s U22 squad ended with 13 medals – 1 gold, 4 silver, and 8 bronze. The silver medalists included Yatri Patel (57kg), Priya (60kg), Neeraj (75kg), and Ishan Kataria (90+kg), all of whom delivered strong performances but narrowly missed gold. The team showed impressive depth and determination throughout the 10-day event.
India’s U19 contingent outshone expectations, winning a total of 14 medals 3 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze. They topped the medal tally in total count and ranked second in golds, behind Uzbekistan. The young boxers demonstrated skill, composure, and maturity beyond their years, proving India’s dominance in the youth boxing scene.
Combining U19 and U22 performances, India secured a total of 27 medals at the event. The competition saw participation from the continent’s top young boxers, with India emerging as one of the strongest nations. The performance reinforced the country’s growing presence in Asian boxing.

India’s 40-member squad of 20 boxers each in U19 and U22, reflected the success of its grassroots and youth development programs. Earlier this year, the U15 and U17 squads had clinched 43 medals at the Asian Championships, including 11 golds. The consistency across all age levels highlights India’s fast-rising boxing ecosystem.
