Smriti Mandhana became the first Indian woman to score a century in all formats of international cricket. Smriti’s historic achievement came in the first T20I against England. Smriti, who came out as an opener, scored 112 runs in 62 balls. The Indian captain’s century included 15 fours and three sixes. This was also Smriti’s first century in T20Is. Meanwhile, Mandhana also equaled Beth Mooney’s record of scoring the most 50+ runs against England in T20 cricket history.
Both of them have eight 50+ scores. Meg Lanning (5), Deandra Dottin (3), Hayley Mathews (3) and Dane van Niekerk (3) are in the next positions. Mandhana – Shafali Verma has become the pair with the most fifty-plus stands in women’s T20Is. The duo broke the record of Australia’s Alyssa Healy – Beth Mooney. The duo has made 50+ stands 20 times between them. Mandhana – Shafali surpassed both of them yesterday.
Mandhana is the second player to score a century for India in women’s T20Is. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur was the first to score a century for India. That innings was against New Zealand in 2018. Harmanpreet scored 103 runs. Mandhana also recorded the highest individual score with her 112 runs yesterday.
