Cricket: Indian cricket team secured a ninth Asia cup win this Sunday. India defeated their arch rivals Pakistan in the final. Pakistan faced India 3 times in the tournament and the result was the same in all the encounters. In the final match, Tilak Varma scored 69 runs while chasing the target of 147 Runs, he was awarded the Man of Match. On September 29th night he landed in Hyderabad, thousands of fans amid media personalities mobbed him at the airport, this 22 year old batsmen became a hero to them after the final match win.

Final match scorecard

First Innings

While batting first Pakistan scored 146 runs with the loss of 10 wickets, Shaibzada Farhan scored highest among the batters with 57 runs, he along with Fakhar Zaman put up a partnership of 84 runs for the first wicket. They scored a sweet 45 runs in the powerplay and put Indian bowlers in pressure from get go. 

But all started to go amiss when Sahibzada tried to pull the short ball on the on side in Varun Chakravarthy’s second over but Tilak on the fence caught the ball, from then on Pakistan batters couldn’t stay at the grease, all the remaining wickets fell in the quick sessions. Kuldeep bagged 4 wickets, while Axar, Varun and Bumrah each took 2.

Second Innings

After the Indian bowler’s great comeback, batters came to bat on the slower gripping wicket. Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill opened the batting but with 20 runs on board India lost 3 top order batsmen, Then Tilak Varma along with Sanju Samson soaked the entire pressure and put on a partnership of 57 runs, this gave India a much needed breathing space. 

In the end Shivam Dube came in and fired Pakistan bowlers into the stance a couple of times, with 10 runs needed in the last over Tilak smoked one into the stance and bought India its ninth Asia Cup title. With this Innings Tilak Varma became the hero to many Indian cricket fans.
