He could not carry on to get a big score, but his innings provided the much-needed impetus for India’s run chase. He had a strong start to his Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh, scoring 41 off 36 balls. Although he was unable to score a significant amount, his innings gave India’s run chase the much-needed boost.

It was in 2003 World Cup Yuvraj singh recalled his first ever India vs Pakistan match during 2003. He said that this was one of the greatest ODI match he has ever played. He also shared that his friend Shahid Afridi welcomed him with a kind words in the game. But he remembered the rivalry between India vs Pakistan match while watching in the TV. While playing on feild he felt immense pleasure and confidence in the game. Following that in the match pakistan chose to bat first throughout the game and scored 273/7 owing to a spectacular century from Saeed Anwar (101). India won by six wickets in the run-chase thanks to half-centuries from Yuvraj (50*) and Sachin Tendulkar (98).
