World Population: The biggest fear of recent times has been the loss of jobs due to AI. But now a shocking report is coming that even surpasses that fear. The new concern is that the world’s population could be dangerously reduced due to artificial intelligence. If the growth of artificial intelligence continues at the current rate, the world’s population could drop to just 100 million by 2300, says Subhash Kak, a professor of computer science at Oklahoma State University. If this trend continues, the world’s major cities could become deserted, the New York Post reports, citing The Sun Magazine.
Subhash Kak described the challenges posed by artificial intelligence as catastrophic. He said that people do not realize how deeply AI will affect them. Kak believes that jobs will decrease as the need for humans decreases as jobs are automated with the advent of AI. Kak says that the birth rate will decrease when the cost of raising children and unemployment are taken into account. If this trend continues, Subhash Kak warns that the world population will decline sharply and by 2300 or 2380, the world’s population will drop to 100 million.
Subhash Kak points to the significant population declines in recent years in countries such as Europe, China, Japan and South Korea as examples. If this trend continues, Subhash Kak said that in the future, the world’s major cities could be deserted. He said that cities like London and New York will be empty and the world will be full of only metal and machines. Subhash Kak also cited warnings from SpaceX chief Elon Musk to make it clear that the decline in the birth rate is the biggest threat to humanity. Subhash Kak says that while it is uncertain whether the human race will become extinct, it is clear that a population collapse is occurring before our eyes.
