Meta has launched an AI-based feature for Facebook and Instagram that can automatically translate, voice-over, and sync the translated audio with lip movements of Reels videos. So, global content is no longer a language barrier for users; they can now enjoy it in their native language.
Available Languages and Rollout
The present feature is capable of supporting four major languages. Those are English, Spanish, Hindi, and Portuguese. Besides these, Meta is planning to bring in several other languages in the near future.
The use of AI tech is responsible for the whole procedure. It converts the audio of the video in question to the target language first. Next, it comes up with a new voice that belongs to the original creator and is similar in tone and pitch to the original one.
The newly introduced lip-sync effect is one of a kind and certainly contributes to the overall video quality. By melding the translated audio with the video, it ensures that the sound and the visuals are in perfect harmony. Hence, dubbed videos can be seen as much more user-friendly as they do not disturb the viewer’s watching experience.
The identification of the AI behind the scene is written on a “Translated with Meta AI” tag on the translated reels. This way, users are given the chance to turn off the translations and they get to watch the original content, if they so choose, as well.
Translation aids are found in the menu with three dots. Move along to sound and language preferences. Make a selection of “Don’t translate” if you want to deactivate the translation. User preferences are straightforwardly represented by the UI.
The feature is accessible to creators who have a minimum of 1000 followers. It is available to all public accounts that fall within the support areas. Hence, the creators realize the new audiences they acquire from breaking up the language barrier and as a result, can use this tool to their benefit.
