iOS 26 and watchOS 26 Release Date:
Apple has officially announced the release date of its latest software updates — iOS 26 for iPhones and watchOS 26 for Apple Watches. These updates were revealed during the company’s recent “Awe Dropping” event, where Apple also introduced the iPhone 17 series, Apple Watch Series 11, and AirPods Pro 3.
Both iOS 26 and watchOS 26 will be available as free updates starting September 15, 2025. The updates will be rolled out over-the-air, which means users can install them directly on their devices without connecting to a computer.
iOS 26 will work on the iPhone 11 series and newer, including the iPhone SE (2nd generation and later) and all models up to the latest iPhone 17.
watchOS 26 will be available for the Apple Watch Series 6 and later, including the Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) and Apple Watch Ultra models. However, to use watchOS 26, your watch must be paired with an iPhone running iOS 26.
Apple introduced a fresh design called Liquid Glass, which adds a transparent look to menus, icons, and controls. iOS 26 also includes new Apple Intelligence features such as:
Live Translation: Instantly translates text and audio in apps like Messages and FaceTime.
Visual Intelligence: Lets users take screenshots and interact with content on-screen.
Updates to CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps, Wallet, and a new Apple Games app.
Like iOS, watchOS 26 also gets the Liquid Glass design. It adds two new watch faces — Flow and Exactograph — and improves over 20 existing ones.
Wrist Flick Gestures to dismiss alerts or stop alarms.
Live Translation in Messages.
AI-powered Hold Assist to avoid waiting on customer service calls.
Call Screening to check who’s calling and why before answering.
These updates show Apple’s focus on making devices smarter and more helpful in everyday life.
