ASUS and Microsoft have joined forces in a collaborative effort to introduce a new product and debuted the ROG Xbox Ally series in India. This series consists of two portable gaming devices: a base version, the ROG Xbox Ally, offers varied levels of performance—and the more powerful version, Ally X, offers higher performance levels. Customers can already pre-order both devices.
ASUS ROG and Xbox co-developed these handheld devices, and their design strongly resembles that of the Xbox controller, with its familiar contoured grips. Each device includes impulse triggers and HD haptics. The rear buttons can be customized for additional control whatever side you choose to rest your fingers, making it easy to feel comfortable during long gaming sessions.
Both models are powered using AMD’s new Ryzen Z2 processors featuring technology designed for small-form factor gaming systems. The roared version of the portable comes with the Ryzen AI Z2 extreme which contains a dedicated Neural Processing Unit designed to provide smart AI-driven performance improvements, and also has 24 GB of super fast LPDDR5X RAM.
The Ally X comes with 1 TB PCIe solid state disk (SSD) storage and an 80-watt hour battery for prolonged gaming. The base model comes with half that storage at 512 GB, and is powered by a slightly smaller 60-watt hour battery. Both variants however use a 7 inch Full HD IPS display. The screen also features a seamless 120Hz refresh rate.
Both handhelds utilize sophisticated Radeon graphics technology. This consists of FSR and RSR, both of which allow for image upscaling. AFMF technology helps with enhancing frames per second frame rates. Additionally, the display is also compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium. This avoids screen tearing for a smoother image. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus provides screen protection.
The Ally X provides comprehensive connectivity options with USB4 and USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. There is also DisplayPort 2.1 and Wi-Fi 6E, and there is a UHS-II microSD slot for expanded storage. The device weighs 715 grams and is built for portability, while the standard model weighs only 670 grams.
The price of the ROG Xbox Ally is Rs. 69,90 in India, while the more powerful Ally X has a price of Rs. 1,14,990. There are incentives to pre-order, including a special incentive for the first 100 Ally X orders that include a bag and a Game pass subscription.
