Turning on Mobile Data During Calls: CyberDost, the official X-handle of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has issued a warning to users who keep the internet connection on while making calls on their mobile phones. In a video shared by CyberDost, an official warns that keeping the internet on while making calls will give the mobile phone access to your conversations.
There is an easy way for mobile users to identify the apps that have been given microphone access. Users can open Google Chrome and click on the three-dot menu. From there, select the Settings option and scroll down to Site Settings to see which apps are allowed to use the microphone. To check which apps have microphone access, users can simply navigate to their phone’s Settings menu. Then, go to the Privacy option and select Permission Manager. There, they can see which apps are allowed to use the microphone or camera. They can also tap on the relevant app to change these permissions.
Meanwhile, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said that five companies have expressed interest in being part of a new program that will assess how digitally connected properties are. These ratings will help evaluate buildings according to specific criteria set by TRAI. The system will start soon and the first set of ratings could be out as early as this month, TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said. He noted that some properties have already started asking questions about how the rating system works.

The new rating system will use a ‘star rating’ similar to that used for eco-friendly buildings or energy efficiency. This will include both new and old buildings. TRAI hopes that this initiative will encourage builders to improve the digital connectivity of old buildings to achieve better ratings. This will ultimately benefit both the builders and the people who use these properties.
