BSNL 5G Plans: In a few Indian circles, BSNL just soft-launched its Q-5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service. The SIM-free wireless internet leased line, which includes plans starting at Rs. 999 per month, is aimed at corporations and enterprises. The state-owned telecom provider will provide 100 Mbps speed under this plan. Additionally, a more expensive package with better data speeds will be available. Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Pune, and a few more Indian cities would be the first to receive the BSNL 5G FWA service prototype in September 2025.
BSNL 5G FWA Plans in India:
BSNL stated in a news release that its 5G FWA service is a SIM-less, production-grade 5G service. It is based on a direct-to-device platform that does not require a physical SIM verification because the Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) authenticates itself automatically.
With a speed of 100 Mbps, the starting plans for the BSNL 5G FWA service in India would start at Rs. 999 per month. Businesses and enterprises can also choose the 300Mbps option, which costs Rs. 1,499 per month. By September 2025, its pilot will start in Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Gwalior, Pondicherry, Pune, and Visakhapatnam.

Reports indicate that BSNL has built the 5G FWA service using a fully indigenous technology stack. Indian vendors have integrated the core, Radio Access Network (RAN), and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). BSNL tested the service at gigabit-class speeds at its Ameerpet Exchange in Hyderabad and reported download speeds of 980 Mbps and upload speeds of 140 Mbps, with latency as low as 10 milliseconds. The company claims the service is ideal for cloud gaming, remote work, and Ultra HD streaming.
BSNL also confirmed that the self-install gateway for the 5G FWA service is compatible with the existing tower infrastructure. This compatibility allows for faster deployment compared to traditional broadband, which often requires trenching or fiber-pulling. In addition, BSNL plans to offer enterprise solutions such as network slicing and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) using the same domestically developed 5G standalone (SA) core. The telecom operator aims to serve smart manufacturing clusters and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through this initiative.
