A teen in Pennsylvania had a fortunate escape from danger thanks to her iPhone. 16-year-old Lindsay Leskovac fell asleep while driving her pickup truck. She crashed into poles and trees and the crash caused her truck to stop close to a lake. Lindsay was trapped inside her truck and could not call for help. Her iPhone 14 stepped in, detecting the crash and automatically calling emergency services to her location using emergency SOS.
On August 2, 2025, Lindsay was traveling home and started feeling sleepy, fell asleep, crashed her truck into some poles and trees, and her truck stopped next to a lake. Lindsay was stuck in the cab of her truck, unable to call for help; that is when the iPhone 14 was able to save her.
Soon after impact, Lindsay’s iPhone was able to detect the crash, dial 911, and send emergency services to her location. Lindsay reported that while she was unaware of her surroundings, a dispatcher was speaking directly to her trying to get her awake and alert. She’s not sure how long it took for her to come to, but when she came to, she remained on the phone for 22 minutes while the rescue team found her. Without that feature on her phone, she might not be here today.
Lindsay’s mother, Laura, reached out to WFMJ and expressed her gratefulness for lindsay surviving. Laura praised the features of the iPhone, saying that MSOP team members acknowledged that her daughter was saved by the iPhone feature. “The rescue team said her phone had dialed 911. She could have died! Technology saved my daughter!” She strongly suggests all iPhone users turn the feature on in case of emergencies.
Lindsay sustained serious injuries in the crash, including fractures of her pelvis and “hip”, and “cervical spine” fractures. Her recovery will not be quick; however, she and her family are just thankful that she is alive. The quick action of the iPhone made all the difference.
