OpenAI has begun a trial of a new payment system in India. A direct UPI payment can now be made within ChatGPT, thereby eliminating the need to go through other apps. The company has partnered with NPCI and Razorpay for this project. This is a big step towards AI-powered commerce.
OpenAI’s goal in the integration was the creation of an AI system that could perform transactions on its own. Security and control by the user are the main qualities that the organization looks for. Through the AI, the system would prompt and finalize exchanges right away. This preliminary experiment gauges the platform’s effectiveness. This may even revolutionize how people shop online.
At the moment, the feature is in the pilot stage. BigBasket is the first platform to introduce this technology. Axis Bank and Airtel Payments Bank are backing the pilot, enabling you to grocery shop through ChatGPT without any hassle. After this trial phase, many other platforms may come on board.
Once you initiate the shopping conversation with ChatGPT, it prompts you to look for different products on BigBasket. You have the option to chat and add products to the cart simultaneously. When the time comes to check out, you can choose the UPI payment method. Without leaving the chat, your transaction gets securely completed.
Along with the current innovations, NPCI has future plans to put UPI on smart devices of the IoT family. This will allow you to pay using the TV or car, for example. Such measures are targeted at promoting the omnipresence of digital payments. The key to the future is nothing but convenience.
OpenAI is only considering the user-controlled payment experience as the best model. The system’s design prioritizes security and autonomy. It will keep users’ financial data private.
